I am an Academic Technology Specialist at Stanford Center for Innovations in Learning (SCIL) where I work wiith faculty and instructors to design, carry out, and evaluate learning activities in the experimental spaces of Stanford’s Wallenberg Hall. I also teach this class, Designing Learning Spaces in Stanford School of Education. Please visit my online bio page for more details about my background and interests.
Some successful outcomes for me in this class are:
- Students feel confident employing some of the techniques and theories that we practice in this class to a real-wrold setting in their lives after Stanford
- At least one of every student's goals for coming to graduate school are addressed through this course
- Students represent Stanford - and me - with class and professionalism to the general community
- I gain confidence in leading a class on my own
Beyond Stanford some things that I enjoy doing are:
- spending as much time as possible with my children Micah (almost 5) and Noemi (2.5) By far the best times of my life are in their company
- traveling inside and outside the country
- reading> I read a lot of news sources online and enjoy reading fiction in actual books, though I am tempted by Amazon's Kindle. Recently, I've read all of the books for the class Book Club and 'Absurdistan' by Gary Shtyengart
- being outside - not necessarily outdoorsy hiking/camping etc. just being outside walking going to parks, having a look around, especially new places
- coaching Special Olympics basketball - this year one of the athletes on my team got to carry the Olympic torch in San Francisco amid all the hubub
An intereview I did in Japan recently translated into English about building a culture of prototyping here at Stanford: Ritsumeikan University Interview
